Extensive grass gallops
Middleham has extensive grass gallops on both the Low and High Moors which
are situated a short ride away above the village of Middleham. Also there
are 7 furlong and one and a half mile long all-weather gallops.

Equine swimming pool
Swimming can be very important to horses recovering from injury, as it enables
the trainer to keep a horse reasonably fit without aggravating an injury.
Most horses take naturally to swimming and don't seem to mind the fact that
they are merely swimming round in circles. The equine swimming pool is situated
in the Kingsley House yard and many visitors are intrigued to see horses using
this facility.

Automated exercisers
Automated exercisers are used to supplement training. They are ideally suited
to help horses that cannot be ridden due to an injury, or require extra exercise
in order to achieve peak fitness.

Fully qualified veterinary
surgeons
The health of all of the horses in training is always of paramount concern
to the staff at Mark Johnston Racing. Mark is a fully qualified veterinary
surgeon and we employ a further vet as a full time member of staff. There
is no charge on top of the training fees for the veterinary work provided.
Weighing room
We are also equipped with a weighing room where the weights of all the horses
are checked. The weight of a horse is an important indicator of how quickly
they recover after a race and how much has been taken out of them by running.
This can be used to plan ahead to aim for the best race possible.
