what a load of rubbish!I worked there for 5 years and there was NEVER a day when there was nobody to watch them canter or gallop be it Mark himself or one of the head lads.it is a totally professional set up and this would never happen!!

Good stable managment but what it lacks most is that no one is there personally to watch the horses canter or gallop at the Moor.Horses which come down from the yard behind Mr.Mark's residence need to have a not to slip walk passage as i have seen horses slip while comming down to work, and thats dangerous for both the rider and the expensive horses that are in the yard.Do you remember me John Anthony the Indian work Jockey who worked for you in the year 2004/05.If any job is provied for me and my wife i shall most willing to join the yard and give my 100%. Thanking You

Very poor website for such a good trainer. Print too small and background colour does not help.Take a tip from Godolphin site (unbeatable).Enjoyed reading your book but it makes you out to be slightly pompous with your views.Your staff were kind enough to show me and my friend from Australia round your stables when Double Trigger was at his heights for which we thank you very much.

I've been an avid fan of racing over the years and one gaurantee is that MJ always gets his horses to the course ready to run, win or lose. MJ always has an opinion on the more political aspects of racing which I find fascinating and always worth paying attention to. A canny Scot with passion to be the best and a brain as well? Surely not! ha ha. Well done Mark and Deidrie. Keep up the good work, and be sure that if the 6 numbers ever come up for me, you'll be getting a new owner. You never know! Best of luck for the rest of the season.

He spoke highly of your professionalism and ability as a horseman. Just browsing the site as i always enjoy backing Mr Johnsons horses, also we have a 3 year old filly by Tomba who did race twice here this year, but for some reason got a knee problem and that was that as they say,so our vet has told us and our trainer to consider having her covered in the new year by a distant stallion and maybe she might still give us something to cheer about later on,so maybe if you have any ideas on that you might let me know as she is fairly well bred so there might be some hope yet for us,thank you

Hi Mark , I'm a fan of yours since the days of Star Rage and have just encountered your very informative website for the first time . As well as congratulating you on your innovative site I would like to voice my approval on your campaign against 48 hour declarations ( as someone who has worked in the betting shop environment I have seen first hand how frustrating it can be to see half a card withdrawn due to extremes in going changes ) & improved television coverage from the other tracks . I cant believe how backward tracks in Ireland are about this issue and am surprised to learn it is much the same over in the UK . Best of luck with Soapy Danger and Linas Selection in the coming months

I am e-mailing your website to congratulate Greg Fairley on his successful season and to your good self for giving the lad the opportunity to show his true worth. If I may be so bold to suggest, that Greg does not ride out his claim too quickly, my reasoning for this was a comment made many many years ago by Jimmy Lindley who I admired so much, he said: "Apprentices who ride out their claim too early, although getting the winners have not gained the experience so badly needed to make it in this game". Royston Ffrench who you quite rightly use to good effect, was a prime example not too long ago. Long may your operation continue - any my hearty best wishes to ALL the backroom staff who after the horses, are the real heroes in this isport.

i think that it is terrible that Attractioin has not races this year in the UK, having only raced once abroad. It is only too right that the supporters of horseracing and the followers of such a great horse should beable to enjoy her. I am coming to the conclusion that this whole situation is money orientated, and that is not what horseracing should be about.

Hello everyone! I still regret never having the chance to come and work for you when I had such great luck getting a position as working rider. Such a shame my body disagreed. Anyways, I just wanted to say 'hi' and good luck in the future to You! Lots of Love, Tania

I would like to say well done for all your sucess this year, the yeard keeps getting better and better. As for Attraction, I sat down with my Mum to watch her at Royal Ascot, and thought that is not a race horse, it runs like a Gorrilla! But putting that aside she is a wonderful honest horse, with a huge heart!I was very upset to hear that Keith had quit as I always followed him and thought he had such a great future in racing, I wish him luck in the future. When you look around the parade ring you can always tell a Mark Johnston horse and its in great shape and happy, keep up the good work and I wish you all the sucess in the world!

Stayed at Richard the Third in Middleham the other week. And had a fab time there and later on when we went to Catterick races. My favourite time was walking up to the gallops and seeing all your horses being led up there by your wife was fantastic. Could i make a suggestion, when the horses are saddled up and taken up to the gallops would it be possible for the horses to have their names stitched into the cloth. Then when we saw them go past maybe we could recoginise a few of them. Will be back Oct 16/17. Hoping to see Royston again when there. Excellent.

Well done with Shamardal! We had him at our farm for extensive rehabilitation after he was paid out on by the insurance company... he had so much heart. He could barely walk a straight line when we got him, but responded to the PFM treatment like magic. We'll be watching him... best of luck!

I had the pleasure of driving with your wife, Diedre and my exhusband Bobby Elliott when we went to Haydock in the early days of your training in April of 1990. You had a bad cold that day and stayed home. I do believe at the time Diedre was expecting your first child as she was horribly car sick. Congratulations on all the marvellous winners you have had since then and if anybody deserved the credit for all of your success, it truly deserved by you both. I noticed back then how much love, support, knowledge and advice Diedre gave you. I hope Andrew turns out to be a good jockey under your tutelarge and I will continue to check your web site to see how many winners he does manage to log up. Sincerely, Jennifer Elliott (wife no. 2 in case you were wondering)!! Take care for now

Hi Mark and Diedre , Thank you very much for letting me go for work experience in July. Unfortunatly i could only go on Monday,Tuesday ad Wednesday because i was clumsy on the wednesday evening when i got home, i banged my foot on my fire place which is stone and my toe nail split in half and i cudn't walk on it etc ,lol so i've been kicking myself ever since. Never mind , i still had a gr8 time the set up of The Kingsley House yard's are absolutly amazing, plus the staff were really encourageing. I could see that all the horses were really happy , nd i was even lucky enough to stand nxt to Attraction's stall , Shanty Star etc their all fantastic! Thanx guys for putting up with me those three days. I'm going to the Racing School still in October and i can't wait. Well i thought that The Persuader and Spectrometer ran great races this week and Nuit Sombre, Chantress and not forgetting Lucky Story! Right better go Good luck for the rest of the season. Lilian

We visited Middleham last month and were lucky to see the horses on the gallops. Here in Ontario racehorse training is VERY different! We were impressed with the way the horses behaved in town, on the roads, and indeed on the gallops. Obviously their surroundings, training methods, and general day to day routines are much more "horse friendly" than those employed in this part of the world! Congratulations!

Delighted for the whole team. What a great few days Royal Ascot was for each and every one of your team. I really miss the Friday column already. I read from another paper (a Sunday one?) that the R. Post 'lost a columnist' as a result of the stable staff controversy. We readers are the poorer. There was a comment in one of Mark's Friday columns about the use of the word 'rehabilitation' instead of 'retraining'. I shall now never know if as a result of having my conscience pricked if I am right to support Carrie Humble and her gallant efforts to help retired racers, or if I should be better to redirect my meagre contribution elsewhere. My thanks to Mark for making me think.

Delighted to have found this web site! Great to see Shanook is back and running - I missed knowing what happened to him last year. Hope to see him out again. Also, sympathy to all who look after Akbar and Systematic who are now out. More favourites of mine. I hope they recover. That's the hard part for stable folk, I guess. I shall keep in touch with the site to check if there is news of some of my favourites. I hope the stable has another really good season with few dropping by the wayside.

Plenty of content which is excellent but your new site is absolutely impossible to navigate. I think you need to really re-think the layout, as the bulk of content is lost! You should also make sure your site works for different screen res as it really screws up at 800x640. Davy Jones

We are interested in sending our best horse to you. His name is Galleon Beach, a three times winner over staying distances last season. He is rated 70 and we are aiming at the Chester Cup, Ascot Handicap and Goodwood handicap over exstreme distances this season. Our trainer Andy Streeter has retired and we want the best for Beachy. Andy says the horse needs one to one attention and turning out for an hour or too every day to keep his mental attitude straight. Keiren Fallon said he is the ideal horse for top staying handicaps this season. Can you help us? We are on a tight budget!
